Background to the Lone Survivor build

Jeri's Springer Front End built the "Lone Survivor" motorcycle as a tribute to Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor of a four man Navy Seal mission, Operation Redwing, in Afghanistan back in 2005.

In June 2005, four U.S. Navy SEALs were sent to capture or kill an al Qaeda leader believed to be close to Osama bin Laden. The Navy Seals became involved in a battle with Taliban. Greatly outnumbered the SEALs radioed for help. Luttrell's teammates fought ferociously beside him but one by one they were killed. A Chinook helicopter responded but was shot down killing all 16 service members onboard. The badly injured Luttrell was taken in by an Afghani tribe who risked everything to protect him from the Taliban. After returning to the USA, Marcus Luttrell received the Navy Cross for combat heroism from President Bush.

After hearing Marcus Luttrell's story on the "Glenn Beck Show" of his and his unit's ordeal in Afghanistan, Jeri was moved to read Luttrell's best selling book "Lone Survivor". Jeri then decided that he could best honor these men by commemorating them in steel by building a motorcycle. Marcus Luttrell personally endorsed this project and assisted Jeri by providing factual details relating to his mission.

Jeri's Springer Front End is proud to be an American corporation and donated its company's time, equipment, and skills as a sign of our appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices made by Marcus Luttrell and all our service men and women.
